This is our Press Release for season VII (2013):
Bringing World History to life within the comforts of the Modern Age, the Lower Mainland’s Only Renaissance Event Returns to Langley!
HUZZAH! For the 7th year in a row, British Columbia’s one and only times past weekend event returns! The BC Renaissance Festival now takes place on 5 acres of the beautiful Pacific Country Stables, located at 21852 16th Ave in Langley, B.C., July 18-21 2013.
This event is a combination walk-about, outdoor “theatre in the crowd” with historically based, fantasy inspired fun and games for all ages.
BC RenFest arose from a desire to provide an opportunity for talented performers and artisans to showcase their skills and entertain the public in a historically themed setting. We strive to provide entertainment combined with education to all ages in a safe space, producing an encompassing experience.
Once you step through the gates you are immediately transported to the 1500’s Shire of Steller’s Grove where King Henry VIII makes court with his wife Queen Catherine of Aragon. The local law enforcement of the Sheriff and the Deputy are ever on the lookout for notorious Captain Charity and her mischievous Jade Dragon Pirate crew.
There is not one, not two, nor three but four stages of live entertainment, featuring folk music from local and across-the-border entertainers. Demonstrations and acts of daring-do are sure to thrill visitors. The Steller’s Grove Petting Zoo will be provided by Langley’s own Gold Fox Acres. A large variety of toys, games and food vendors for the whole family to enjoy makes the entire village of Steller’s Grove complete.
Our jousters will once again thrill as they compete for the King’s favour on the William Thatcher Memorial Jousting Field. The Frog and Fiddle Pub will feature wines and meads made by local suppliers while the cast of villagers sing your cares away with salty songs and ballads. And children will laugh and play as they practice their archery skills, challenge each other to water noodle quarterstaff battles, and play on the wooden games and rides.
Co-Producers and husband-and-wife team Christina Carr and Martin Hunger have really outdone themselves this year providing what they call “edu-tainment” for the masses. With thousands of dollars and hours of time invested, the teams of volunteers, cast and crew are dedicated to give you and your family and friends the medieval times of your lives.
